Trouble enabling drda on linux server

$
0
0
I am having problems connecting to informix server with common .net driver of
informix. When I run testconn40_32 it fails with error 08001. What is odd is
the host says it's listening on port specified.

The sqlhosts file in host has a line specifying drda connectivity like this:

dr_informix1210 drsoctcp localhost dr_informix1210
I also have a DBSERVERALIASES name specified for that host in onconfig file at
the host: DBSERVERALIASES dr_informix1210, lo_informix1210

I've also set all the environment variables including PATH, INFORMIXDIR,
INFORMIXSERVER, ONCONFIG and INFORMIXSQLHOSTS.

My services file has a line for that service like this:

dr_informix1210 9089/tcp
I've added a rule to allow connections on that port to the firewall

My hosts file in /etc/hosts also lists the server like this:

127.0.0.1 localhost
and my connection string is the following: Database=sigac_historico;Server=(ip
adress:port);UserID=(userid);Password=(password)

So I want to know if I missed any step. I know the error means that somehow
drda is not enabled because the host refused the connection. The host runs
Ubuntu and my program is made in .NET, running from windows.

I also would mention if I do a telnet to that server it throws an error saying
connection can't be opened.

One more question: I see there is a different product by IBM called DB2, ¿is
this the only product that supports ADO.NET? Currently I'm trying to connecto
to Informix Server

Thanks.

err -956 connecting as root to database server

OS: Suse Linux SLES 12
Informix 12.10.FC9WE

Our informix installation works fine but when we try to connect from our
client server to the database server as user root we get error 951: Incorrect
password or user is not known on the database server.
In the Informix log I have error listener-thread: err = -956: oserr = 0:
errstr = root@linmetis: Client host or user root@linmetis is not trusted by
the server.

It works fine for every other user.

I also have no problem when I try to connect directly as root on my database
server.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

I did some more testing and found out that the following works:

connect to twn USER "root" USING "password"
;
select * from twparam

I know that this is no Informix problem, but I am new to Linux and I don't see
where this problem comes from.

..rhosts an hosts.equiv don't seem to be the problem.

Any ideas?

Re: ODBC/JDBC Auth on openSUSE running PAM/SSSD

Daniel,

Did you manage to resolve this issue you posted on the IIUG website (http://members.iiug.org/forums/linux-informix/index.cgi/read/1643) on 15/05/2017?

We are experiencing the same problem and there doesn't appear to be any responses on the IIUG website to your post.

Regards,

Paul Seed

Hello,

I have a problem with Informix IDS 12.10 installed on Linux.

when I try to run administrating commands such as onstat, oninit etc it does
not respond.

I get back the prompt without any error such as:

[informix@dionysos /]$ oninit
[informix@dionysos /]$

I restarted the Linux server but did not help and I cannot start Informix.

Any ideas how can I fix the problem.

Thanks,

Vasilis

Which Linux flavour (distro) are you using?
Can you post result of 'env' command
Can you try to start 'oninit -v' command and post output if any
Can you post result of commands:
ls -l $(which oninit)
ls -l $(which onstat)

Hello,

I have reinstalled Informix on another directory and it worked for the new
instance.

The online.log did not include anything about the problem.

I am using Linux 3.10.0-123.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP

SUSE SLES kernel patch may cause problems for IDS

$
0

Just a heads-up note:

There is a relatively recent SUSE SLES kernel version, patch or upgrade
available that may cause data errors for the Informix server. The cause seems
to be a "fix for LazyFPU (CVE-2018-3665) which seems to trigger this" [
citation from below URL ].

For Informix this can for example result in corrupted data pages in memory (in
the bufferpool). Possibly such corruptions may also be written to disk.
Therefore, restore from an archive (taken before changing the OS) may be
necessary to be sure to fully correct the problem.

More info on the SUSE SLES kernel can be found at this SUSE URL:
https://www.suse.com/de-de/support/kb/doc/?id=7023167

At this time it is not 100% clear, whether applying the kernel boot parameter,
as suggested at the above SUSE URL, can prevent all problems for Informix.
Certainly it can not correct any corruptions already written to disk.
Therefore, at this time it seems safest to not use a kernel with the mentioned
fix.

Regards, Martin.

IDS 11.50 performance issues

I am setting up a disaster recovery server and am having an issue with the Informix. Compared to the production server, the response time for certain commands is really slow. For instance, it takes up to 25 seconds to open onmonitor and using the onspaces command is also really sluggish. The only obvious difference I note on the two servers is that my dbspaces on production have the flags 0x40001 on live and 0x60001 on the backup server when I run onstat -d. Would this matter? And why the difference if the same version of Informix is being used to create dbspaces (11.50.UC1)? ******************************************************************************* To post a response via email (IIUG members only): 1.
